JDRF in 2009
The Ford-Buffalo Stamping Plant / UAW 897 continue to fully support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation ( JDRF ). In a year marked by uncertainty, 2009 will be a record-setting amount for our region, due in part to the efforts of West-Herr Ford.
The “ Flex Lease Raffle," initiated by West Herr General Manager Tony Helta, netted $10,005.00 Two 3 year leases were awarded to the drawn winning ticket as well as the seller of that ticket. In addition , West Herr arranged to have an autographed guitar donated by The Music Exchange. The proceeds from that raffle amounted to $890.00 to JDRF.
In addition to the funds raised by West Herr, $ 1,912.00 was raised at the annual ‘ Walk ‘ held at Martin’s Fantasy Island on June 7th and $ 29,088.00 raised at the 5th Annual Golf Outing / Wine Tour held on Saturday August 8th at Arrowhead Golf Course and the Niagara Wine Trail. The 2009 grand total of $41,895.00 surpasses the record set in 2008; a true indicator of the generosity of the Buffalo Stamping employees, retirees and the Western New York community.
This support allows JDRF to remain focused on its mission to fund the research to find a cure that affects 25 million Americans.
